As mountaineering has so many different facets, the club will give awards for achieving at least one of any of the different criteria at each level.
Criteria must have been met in typically one academic year, and have taken place among other club members.
For the climbing awards, pitches must have been all led by the individual or (for multi-pitch climbs only) swapped leads.
Place top 3 in a BUCS or SUS competition, or a member = of a national climbing team (BMC or equivalent)
A number of regionally, or nationally significant new routes, of any style (E6+, VII+, F7b+ or combination)
Walking - not achievable
Top 10 at BUCS or SUS or win a regional climbing competition
15 single pitch climbs (at least E2, F6c+, V or combination)
5 multi-pitch (at least 70m in length) routes (at least E1, F6b, V or combination)
25 QMD in a year (quality mountain days - same definition as MLTB e.g. individual must have some organisational and navigational input, the trip must be at least 5 hours in length, attention is paid to safety, knowledge is increased and skills are practised)
Compete for the club in a BUCS/SUS event
10 single pitch climbs (at least VS, F6a, III or combination)
2 multi-pitch (at least 70m in length) routes (at least HS, F5+, II or combination)
12 QMD in a year
